Artahead provides a hub for artists working together creating opportunities for people to engage in visual art processes, including people with mental health problems and learning disabilities.
The direction for Artahead is the combination of inclusive workshop facilitation, project management, exhibitions, artist based research, collaboration, artist development and creative mentoring. Artahead is aiming for a holistic creative approach, where creativity is used to enrich individuals lives.
Artahead was founded by Nickova Behling after the successful projects of ‘Exploration’.
Exploration was the first project in which Nickova facilitated high quality art projects for participants with severe learning disabilities and multiple needs.
The project was enormously satisfying for collaborating artists and participants alike and continued into a second phase – touring exhibitions throughout Surrey, UK to show publicly the variety and diversity of the artwork created.
It gave Nickova the inspiration to develop her engagement with facilitation and collaborative work, concluding in the project STEAM, followed by continuing workshops for wellbeing, learning and explorative print-making.
