STEAM is an exhibition which has been devised and planned by artists Nickova Behling and Michael Corlett, who have been joined by artists Sue Sargeaunt and Jono Retallick. It was held at the James Hockey & Foyer Galleries, University of Creative Arts Farnham, from 8th July to 10th August 2013.
The exhibition explores and celebrates the work of artists facilitating creative opportunities for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems; work on display is by both the artists themselves and those who have participated in projects they have facilitated. This kind of facilitation work is presented here as an expression of the creativity of both facilitators/artists and participants. For all the artists involved, this has been an opportunity to bring our personal practice and facilitation work together in a new way and to make fresh observations on the relationship between the two.
