Some time has passed since the successful Steam project. A lot has happened since then:
Artahead has continued to progress. Working on collaborations such as the “Song-Picture-Performance”
Nickova was also experimenting with print-making, exploring a variety of techniques:
Solar plate etchings
Colography
Cold needle etching with chine colle
Lithography
And last but not least, Monotype printing
The above prints were made by Nickova Behling – all in preparation for the projects to come – keep an eye out for the next workshop announcement.
What else happened after STEAM:
The UCA Farnham Galleries closed their access to public display. A few fantastic people lost their jobs in the process.
Lee Broughall followed his artist career. He is working independently as web/video designer and gallery technician. Lee is still an associate of Artahead.
Sue Sargeaunt is arts officer and arts facilitator at the Colebrook Day Service but with reduced hours, focusing on her family and own art project work. Sue is still working with Nickova Behling on art projects and is an Artahead associate.
Eugene McCloskey has now finished his MA in Music and Sonic Media. With this combination of film/music and composition and with his technical skills he will be an even stronger partner for Artahead.
Emma-Jane Caulfield had to withdraw from her position as administrator due to other commitments but is still a friend of Artahead. With her creative skills, her teaching experience and her joy of working with a diverse group of people, she will always be a welcoming partner.
Christine Kapteijn left the country and is now working from her base in Netherland.
The Colebrook Day Services are not part of Surrey County Council anymore but now under private management, more people lost their jobs.
The participants are still taking part in what ever is provided for them but unfortunately due to the changes, Artahead was not able to run another steamroller printing workshop at the day centre.
Jono Retallic has dived deep into his artistic career and family life – and with his little twins – he has a joy to juggle!
Mike Corlett changed his position in Brighton and is now setting up independent travel schemes for people with learning disabilities.
All of the above are still friends of Artahead and I look forward to working with associates old and new, as Artahead progresses.
